SPORT IN THE CITY

Bouygues Travaux Publics, organisation partner

description

Created in 1998, "Sport dans la Ville"[Sport in the City] is the main organisation for inserting youngsters from sensitive urban areas, via sport in France. The roll-out of programmes set up by the organisation fosters social and professional insertion of over 3,000 young people every year, by taking an active part in their progression and personal development.

Partner of the organisation and its "Job dans la Ville" programme for fostering training and professional insertion in companies for young people from the age of 14, the commitment of Bouygues Travaux Publics and its staff is illustrated via collective actions (visits to worksites, financial backing for the opening of new sports grounds…) and individual ones (sponsoring by corporate staff, proposed courses, work-study programmes, employment on temporary or permanent contract basis…).

For Bertrand Burtschell, executive vice-president: “Bouygues Travaux Publics fully expresses its social and societal responsibility through financial support for Job dans la Ville and by offering staff who wish to become engaged a portal to do so. Our profession has always been a mechanism in social mobility. It is only natural that we should be a driving force in an issue with such serious repercussions for the professional future of young people ‘on the edge’. We intend to get large numbers of employees of all backgrounds involved in this initiative, on a voluntary basis. Their work will take many forms, such as helping young people draft a CV or cover letter, explaining how a company operates, describing their profession, preparing candidates for a recruitment interview, accompanying them on a site visit, and working with a young person on an internship or apprenticeship”.
