Kibali Gold Mine

Extraction of 110 million bcm during 12 years

Mining

Congo, Dem. Republic, 2012 - 2026

General description

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, at one of Africa’s biggest gold mines, DTP Mining teams are working hard to extract some 110 million bcm of materials over a 12-year period. A total of 260 million tonnes of materials will be moved from four identified pits over an area of almost 700 hectares.

As it did at the Gounkoto and Tongon sites, DTP Mining has created and implemented a customised training programme to teach local mechanics how to perform maintenance operations on mining and excavation equipment and give them the opportunity to develop their careers and move into supervisory positions at DTP Mining-operated mines in the longer term.
