Ivory Coast, 2023-2028
Bouygues Travaux Publics has been awarded a contract by the Ivory Coast Ministry of Transport to build the first metro line in the city of Abidjan. With a capacity of over 500,000 passengers a day, this open-air metro – the most ambitious mass transit project in sub-Saharan Africa – will improve travel conditions and relieve congestion in Abidjan.
Its 38-kilometre route will follow a natural communication corridor from the north of Ivory Coast’s capital (Anyama Centre Station) to the south (Airport Station). Major elements of the project include the construction of 18 stations, 24 bridges, a viaduct over the lagoon, 34 pedestrian footbridges and 8 subways.
