In the context of an ambitious project to develop the city's transport infrastructure, the SMTCAT (Greater Toulouse joint association for public transport) has awarded Bouygues Travaux Publics the contract for section 4 of line C, which will be the city’s third line. With a 27-kilometre route and 21 stations, it will link the north-west and south-east areas of the city, serving the region's major employment centres. The new line will be able to handle 200,000 passengers a day.
The contract awarded to Bouygues Travaux Publics includes:
- A 4,160 metre-long tunnel bored with a tunnel boring machine, with an internal diameter of 8.50 metres
- 4 stations: Montaudran Gare, L’Ormeau, Limayrac-Cité de l’Espace and Côte Pavée
- 3 ancillary structures and the galleries connecting them to the tunnel
- A 650-metre-long cut-and-cover tunnel at the southern end of the section at Montaudran
