General description

Build-and-design contract for extension of the Port of Tangier. Two new container terminals provide capacity for an extra 5.2 million containers per year.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

The works consist of:

- a main breakwater consisting of a 955-m-long rubble-mound structure (including 5,760 Accropodes™) and a 2710-m-long caisson structure (96 four-cell caissons),

- a secondary breakwater consisting of a 377-m-long rubble-mound structure (including 3,581 Accropodes™) and a 341-m-long caisson structure (10 four-cell caissons),

- 1200 m of quays made with unreinforced mass-concrete blocks,

- 760,000 m² of cargo-handling area. The seafloor is dredged less than 16 m from the quay walls.
